I attended chimes year one as a freshman, and have been blessed with the ability to serve ever since! Chimes immediately connected me to my church and so many people that shaped my college years, and without it I probably wouldn't have stayed in Tuscaloosa. so many students come into Alabama worried about coming to such a big school, and they need a community they can call home while they're here. My why chimes is why wait? God is always moving around this city and campus and starting college off with His people is the best thing incoming students can do!

Chimes actively steps into the great commission! Over the course of my four years in Tuscaloosa, I've witnessed countless positive implications of discipleship in the local church. Chimes bridges the difficulty for freshmen trying to find a church home while encountering all the craziness of their first year of college in Tuscaloosa by bringing the encounter to them before August hits. Serving the Chimes Retreat as a director has transformed my faith and how I will live it out for the rest of my life. I praise God for the lives changed and hearts renewed through God's work here!

Chimes was an integral part in connecting me to a body of believers that has faithfully guided me through deepening my walk with Christ in college, so I knew I wanted to be able to serve other incoming students in that same way by serving with chimes!

Chimes is an amazing way to get plugged into Christian community in Tuscaloosa. The Lord works in so many ways during the Chimes Retreat and throughout the year as we see students get plugged into a church and grow the friendships that began at Chimes. It is so encouraging seeing how many churches and ministries want to strengthen you in your walk with Christ and all of the students that want to be part of that!

Chimes was very impactful to me as an incoming freshman. I am going into my senior year and looking back, Chimes is where I first found my church that I love so dearly! I met people who would become very meaningful friends in my life. Chimes provided a community for me before I even stepped foot on campus, it gave me something in common with other people which is something that I will be forever grateful for!

I was welcomed into college by chimes and through it was able to get connected to a local church where my faith has grown tremendously. I want to help provide that for incoming freshmen!

I serve with the Chimes Retreat because it showed me what Christ centered community in college looked like before I even started classes, and because of the leaders who loved me so well and invited me in to a church that changed the trajectory of my life.

Experiencing the connection of the big C church through chimes is incredible and helped me realize how beautiful the body of Christ is! We have the opportunity to serve Jesus beside so many others - it’s a reminder here on earth of the truth that God never leaves us! Chimes is a way to witness that.

Chimes is an incredible opportunity to meet other Kingdom builders and learn God’s purpose for the big C church, fellowship, and discipleship.

From someone who never got to go to Chimes, I have gotten to see the benefits of the retreat through my community around me. I have seen just how impactful Chimes is in forming friendships and connecting students to Christ-centered community here in Tuscaloosa. I chose to be a part of chimes this year because I want incoming freshmen to have the community and connections that I never had when I came to Alabama!

Chimes is an amazing way to meet people in the same stage of life as you! So many testimonies feature chimes as the turning point in their walks with Christ and it's been so sweet to hear about the Lords faithfulness through this retreat! I feel so blessed to serve at Chimes this year and witness how the Lord is working in the hearts of incoming freshmen!

My freshman year, I did not go to chimes and came in to college without a Christian community around me. I struggled to get settled and feel like I was a part of a community where I belonged. Seeing how chimes impacted my soon to be brothers and sisters in Christ, I knew I wanted to jump on board to get others plugged in to the body of Christ in Tuscaloosa before coming to college like I wish I could have!

Why chimes? I think Chimes is perfect for incoming freshman because it can help get you friends before school even starts! And if you already have friends coming in, I believe it can deepen the relationship you already have with them! I also think Chimes retreat is such a big help to freshmen with finding churches, ministries, and Christian community in their time in Tuscaloosa!

I chose Chimes because I saw the impact it had on so many students finding their faith community early in college. Even though I never attended as a freshman, serving on staff last year showed me how powerful this ministry is in helping students feel seen, supported, and spiritually grounded. I’ve witnessed firsthand how Chimes creates space for lasting friendships and meaningful connection with local churches. If you want to start your college journey surrounded by people who love Jesus and want to grow together Chimes is where you need to be.

I chose to attend Chimes my freshman year because I desired a strong Christian community in college. The retreat played a major role in why I became a member at First Baptist, and for that I am incredibly thankful!! I’m so grateful for Chimes and the way it shapes and encourages students to love and serve Christ not only during college, but for the rest of their lives.

I know how impactful Chimes was for me as a Freshman and I want to pass that along to the classes below us. Some of the older guys I got to meet at Chimes really showed me how much fun college really can be. I also met some of my best friends at Chimes my freshman year and we’ve really gotten to help each other grow in our faiths over the last few years of school. I want to help do for these freshman what those older guys did for me.

I would have found the Chimes Retreat very helpful if I had attended prior to the start of my freshman year.
